Padmabhushan Rani Gaidinliu, freedom fighter of Nagaland, birth day falls on 26th January, 2009, eventually the republic day of India. CHATTISGARH:RAIPUR HOSTEL SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS

A hostel for the tribal girl students of North Eastern states was established at Raipur, Chattisgarh, 25 years ago. Hundreds of girls were educated from this hostel who are now working for the social upliftment of their respective villages. Few of them are working as full time workers of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram in North East. Vanvasi Kalyan Samiti, Chattisgarh is celebrating its silver Jubilee on 24, 25 and 26th January, 2009. Old students and their parents are invited for the occasion.

VKA'S BEST ARCHERS-2009

Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram,s Sports Wing, organised its annual Sports Meet at Solan, Himachal Pradesh from 28th to 31st December, 2009. This Sports Festival was inaugurated by State's Health Minister Dr. Rajiv Bindal on 28th December, 2009 and Honourable Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Shri Premkumar Dhumal was the Chief Guest of the Valedictory function on 31st December, 2009. Archery and Kho Kho were the two events in which competitions were conducted. A total number of 387 players, both girls and boys participated in the 4 day sports festival. WEST BENGAL:MEDICAL & EYE CHECK UP CAMP

5 Doctors and 3 Medical Assistants along with 26 other Kalyan ashram's workers and sympathizers were out to Birbhum district of West Bengal on 19 and 20th December, 2009 to conduct Medical and Eye Check Up camp for tribal villagers. They were equipped with 16 cartoons of medicines, BP instruments, weighing machines and a Mobile Eye Care Vehicle. 585 patients were checked on 19th where as 470 patients were enrolled on the second day. FOUNDATION DAY

26th December, the day on which Kalyan Ashram was established by Deshpande 57 years ago was celebrated as foundation day at several hundred places by Kalyan Ashram workers, sympathizer and donors.

HARYANA-UNIQUE PROGRAMME

on the eve of Lohri, a popular North Indian Religious traditional festival, Kalyan Ashramof Haryana organised a unique programme-Auction of Kuber Ka Laddu. A huge laddu was brought to the Ashram Hostel Premises and auctioned in presence of huge geathering. The highest bid was Rs.326,000, which will be donated to Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Mumbai for promotion of service activities in Vanvasi (Tribal) area

MANIPUR STATE WORKERS CONFERENCE HELD

18, 19 & 20th December 2009 - State Kalyan Ashram Workers Conference was held at Bal Vidya Mandir Campus, Palace Compound, Imphal. 225 male and female workers atended the three day conference. Rtd. Col.H.Bhuban Singh Presided over the concluding function. Prof. Gangmumei Kamei (Ex Minister, Government of Manipur) blessed the function.
